Babies and STi's

Has anybody got an MY03 STi with the Prodrive springs?

We are expecting and I am quite concerned about how hard the suspension is, especially in the back.

Everyone is saying 'ooh it's MPV time for you!', and I'm like 'no but, yeah but!'

Will my child ever sleep or get brain damaged being shaken to pieces!! Anyone with any experience of this?

Phil

I've got an 02 sti with Eibach's, not quite the same thing but I suspect pretty close.

Kids have always been fine in the back, and its one of the only times you get some peace and quiet, driving off boost they always fall asleep.

On boost and they're always telling me to go faster! Naughty kids.

mate has got a p1 and his new baby sleeps in that ok and his suspension is much harder than my 03 sti with eibach springs

I think you will find the bumps will help it to sleep :D

I have an MY03 StiUK ppp with prodrive springs. A freind has one but standard. The ride with the prodrive springs is much better.

I took the family out last week, the 10month old feel asleep for the whole journey, my 10yr old son, who normally gets travel sick, was fine. On the way home, they all fell asleep and didn;t even wake up through the faster b road sections of the journey.

You need the springs in your life !!

I have the springs, that's why I was worried.

Is there enough space in the boot for pushcahirs and all the other tat you have to carry about (wife ;)) etc?

Phil

I have a 53 STI with PPP and Prodrive springs

I find the ride is very harsh and when my wife is int he back with our 4 month old son she hates it as he is being thrown around. We tend to use the Focus and try not to take him out in the STI.

However, car has just been in for 20k service and it has the clunking problem from the rear wheels, turns out to be this rear shock problem so the dealer is having new shocks fitted under warranty.

I'm hoping this will ease the ride a little

:)

Also there is more than enough space for pushchair, shopping and the other half of the entire home that you need when you take the baby out

:D :D :D

The ride is much better with the Prodrive springs than the standard Sti

The damping is far superior with th uprated springs

You have to remember that the Sti standard springs were developed for nice smooth Jap roads, not UK roads

I used to think i was riding one of those blow up orange toys from the seventies. Can't remember what they were called

I have the std springs on my 03sti (same as the spec c by the way) and people often fall asleep in the back, but I do drive slow with little passengers.

It'll be just fine. Compare the ride of your STi (or my MY03 STi with PHP, for that matter) to the kiddie's pram and you'll soon understand!

Space Hopper?

I have a P1 and the baby loves it. She either sleeps or sits there quietly, never cry's in the car. ;)

I'm hoping when the new shocks are fitted the ride will have improved considerably

:)

T4molie 08 September 2005 09:52 AM

Can anyone tell me whether there is a difference in the colour of the standard springs and the prodrive ones? :)

Andy

Philip Attaway 08 September 2005 10:11 AM

Standard are black, Prodrive are pink (on the STi)

T4molie 08 September 2005 10:14 AM

:thumb: nice one, cheers Phil :)

Steve777 08 September 2005 10:19 AM
