Noble to M3CSL??

Ow do you lot,

Possibly time for a swap round of cars in the household, 'er in doors is getting rid of her mitsi Evo 5 as the practical shopping car to go back to an Elise so I'm now looking for something with 4 seats to replace the Noble. Needs to be something that puts a smile on my face day to day, whilst capable of doing the Tesco/schoolrun/airport type stuff (and just maybe the odd track day ;)

Seen a couple of M3CSL's being driven in anger, one at Harewood Hillclimb and one at a recent Snetterton trackday, certainly make a lovely noise, just wondered if anyone on here has one and how engaging they are to drive? Are there any things to look out for apart from making sure it's the right wheels with one (how do I tell??).

Having lived with 2 cars which have needed servicing at least 3 times a year, what are the schedules for the CSL?

Anyone suggest alternative to CSL???

Finally (honest), anyone know of any at any dealerships in Yorkshire at present? tried BMW.co.uk but all seem to be down south, fancied testing one tomorrow.:)

PS anyone know any bmw forums??

http://www.bm3w.co.uk

Had an M3, changed it to a CSL, changed that for a 911 TT.

CSL is good if you plan on going on track, gets a little tiresum on the road, but the noise makes up for it!

I wouldn't fancy running cup tyres in the winter, so best get those changed to road tyres, but ask the above questions on www.bm3w.co.uk in the CSL forum.

As a normal day to day road car, M3 is better package, but lacks the noise. :(

You could always go for the M3 CS, best of both worlds? Maybe...

Blot, Isn`t there a BM dealer in Harrogate/Pannel. Surley there`s one in Leeds/Bradford, JCT600 ?

Dont know owt about `em though. Shame to let the Noble go.

Neil.

That's great thanks, couldn't go the 911 route as kids would definitely projectile in the back (plus theres a very ruf 911 down the road..) really struggling to think of anything else four door that has the road/track focus

Steve, after a Noble I don't think Blot would find a CSL tiresome, positivley luxurious!

Nevetas 02 September 2005 09:06 PM

CSL is only a 4 seater, and front seats arn't adjustable. they only go forward and back. M3 CS would probably be the better soloution for you.

Loads of pics of my m3, and csl on my site, http://www.nevetas.com in the gallery, then motors section.

Ey up Neil,

Been a while since I've been on here, how yer doing?

tracking down a CSL is even harder than the noble was to find, have tried a couple of BM dealerships, stood for ages at one being ignored as I'd dared to turn up unshaven and wearing jeans, they were very keen to talk to me once I got into my car (too late!)

Marcus Fothergill in Harrogate had one a couple of weeks back but had sold it before I spotted it, will be a shame (if!!) the noble goes, but the brownie points I'll get should bank enough points for when the next M12 model comes out:):)

NOOOOOooooo not the CS, 4 seater fine- can't fit anyone elses kids in, non adjustable seats-fantastic, it'll stop the kids growing, have read the review of the CS in EVO and sounds like an upgrade package??

Homer need raw, uncomfortable loud car which can fit beer/food/kids in and then blat round croft:D

Nice pics by the way, if only I could test drive them!

Yup but all in the South! Happy to buy off there once I've test driven to check it's the car for me, just can't find any up here!

What's the servicing intervals? (can't be worse than the current 2 motors!!)

It's odd, but 911's have never been on my list, had a 928 S4 a while back and that was an awesome cruiser but only practicle porsche would be cayenne unfortunately:(

To be fair to er in doors, it is my turn to have the shed, having traded in her elise for the noble, which I did remember to mention to her after I'd done it:D:D

C2forWRX 03 September 2005 02:06 PM

Paul

I'm praktickely pulling my hair out trying to decide what's next:D

Ey up Paul, thought you must have emigrated, not seen you in ages! I've got loads of Pellegrino in the cupboard and a third job working from home so do drop by!!!

Found a brand new M3CS hiding at a dealers, cancelled order, but CSL is favourite at the mo', meant to be test driving an E55 AMG sometime this week, other than that stuck for fun 4 seat with decent boot???

Have said to er in doors we'll get two fiesta 1.1Diesels at this rate....

Ballistic 06 September 2005 06:33 PM

Have a look on bm3w.co.uk
is an excellent source of info on the CSL plus there will be some private ads.

Servicing schedule is the same is an ordinary M3 as calculated by the computer, depends on how and how often you drive it.

Never driven a Noble so don't know how they would compare.
Alot of people categorise the CSL with the GT3, both excellent track day cars and similar in performance.

Get a test drive and see what you think. The induction roar is fantastic, nothing else like it. The CSL is so much more hardcore than the M3 (had them both). The M3 CS is just a tarted up M3, nothing like a CSL IMO.
If you get a CSL ideally find one with the CSL wheels, cup tyres, a/c, xenons, etc. (most will be speced up like this)

banny sti 06 September 2005 06:51 PM

What about an M5??

blot 06 September 2005 09:02 PM

Cheers Ballistic, only problem so far is finding one within 2 hours drive to test drive!!

Banny- M5? <cough> computer says no:D

leonpoole 06 September 2005 09:07 PM

Bit of a stepdown from a noble to CSL. I would make your missus get the sensible motor and keep the noble

ADP 06 September 2005 09:08 PM

ironic isn't it some one states the obvious and no one notices, yes you'd have to step UP from the noble to get into the csl ;)

as to the comment of making his missus get the sensible motor :nono:
