Hol €€ - Travellers chqs or cash card??

Just sorting my holiday money out & a couple of people have suggested that rather than take my money in travellers cheques it would be cheaper to take my cash card & draw the money out from cash points when i'm there.

What are others opinions on the best way?

If your gong to have access to a room safe, then I would take cash and change into local currency when your there. If your travelling, then a combination of local + plastic might be better.

I personally just take a cash card these days. I'm with Nationwide and they don't charge anything to withdraw cash abroad, unlike most other banks.

I think holiday money is the least of my worries now...

Just doing the first bit of packing when I just happen to glance at my passport and am greeted with:

Expires Jan 06

You need at least 6 months on your passport to travel to Turkey!!!! We go on Sunday!

The missus was supposed to have checked this and told me it ran out in JUNE 2006!!!

After a mad panic I called the passport agency helpline & managed to book myself in @ the Durham office at 8.30 tomorrow morning (apparently their last appointment until Monday! ). 5.30 start for me tomorrow morning then, don't think work will be impressed either when I ring in from Durham!

Oh the joys of holidays

I'll never laugh at the stupid people on holiday airport again though :D
