Speedo not working in limp dick mode
 

Had a problem during the week my speedo kept bouncing around all over the place but thought it had sorted itself out. Yesterday however the speedo went completey (fuel and rev counter still works) which has put the check engine light on and it wont allow me to go over 4500rpm:cry: .anyone have any ideas on whats wrong? i think i have located the speedo cable A silver braided cable running from the gearbox.

could be your speed sensor...had exactly the same problem in my old celica...it had burnt out

Jap spec scoobys go into a limp mode when the speedo is disconected or cable breaks. This was to stop the slanty eyes from simply unhooking the speedo to disable the limiter. Suggest new cable (2 pieces) try the shorter one first (nearest the gearbox) cause its handy.
