How easy to change discs
Looking to upgrade front and rear discs how easy are these to change and what are a reasonable upgrade disc to buy and how much .
Still want to use the 4 pot callipers (sti type r). cheers lee. |
front: remove caliper, (2 bolts,) remove old disc, fit new, replace caliper. Done.
Rear, remove caliper, (2bolts) un adjust handbrake, (if required) fit new disc, readjust handbrake, and refit caliper...Done. |
Makes it sounds so easy. Wait until you get to a nut/bolt that wont undo...I always seem to come across at least one.
As above, the procedure itself is quite straightforward. I'm not convinced that 'uprated' discs are worth the money or are any better than OE. Bob |
two other things should be kept in mind also..
Old discs that are a little resitive to being taken off can be persuaded via the use of 2 8mm metric bolts screwed into the threaded hole in the old disc on the hub area, this will push the disc off the hub. The second item is to make sure the mating surfaces between hub and new disc are spotless, and true (i.e remove the rust with a scraper and wire brush). That way you wont be taking them off in a month cos they've warped! ;) Andy |
