Laptop for ECU tuning

How powerfull a laptop should i be looking for, if i was to tune ECU's? Is there anything i should consider at all?

Is there any ECU's which aren't a straight plug and play with a connector cable, that can be supplied with the ECU?

For the laptop question, I'd estimate anything with an 800MHz CPU or above should be more than adequate.

Connectors etc- pass!

Anything around the 1 GHz mark is more than enough. Mapping/logging sotfware is not that demanding. Must have a serial port, and at least one USB port.

Cheers,
Paulo

Where can you learn how to do this , what sort of background do you need. I have a lot of interest in mapping , but cant find any info about where to learn about it.

Cheers

I think there are a couple of generic ecu mapping books. Then its just a steep learning curve, normally performed on your own car ;)
