Problem is - the side lights are a cool colour and the headlights ain't
What headlight bulbs are closest to the super expensive Xenon type bulbs without spending hundreds on them? :)

Used to have PIAA LED sidelights, now using the free set of Phillips Blue Vision bulbs.

Found that the LED did not match well with the PIAA bulbs or Osram Silverstars i had fitted. The Phillips have a blue tint to them but are a brilliant white and are a perfect match to any headlight bulb.

Had them fitted in my old classic and just put them in my newage yesterday to match the Osrams:D

Looking much better Mark :) that low voltage orange glow spoils the car at night.

Simon :)

Cheers for that guys :D
I'm now onto plan B. Having seen them at night compared to the headlights - they look totally out of place  If i had pukka HID's they would look ace, but as i don't - they don't :D
Crap mobile pic here :-

Plan B = I've now ordered the pure white ones :D Next question which headlight bulbs are pure white? :)

Alright mate. You need to look on ebay. Its a bulb called autodezigns and you need the 8500k headlamp bulbs. they nearly look the same colour as your sidelights. I've got these on my WRX and they do a fair impression of xenon lights. The bulbs cost £12.42 all in from canada or america.

I have the same setup as Richie - Osram silverstars with the philips blue vision side lights - looks a good match in my eyes...

still tempted by HIDs though...

Brun 07 September 2005 12:16 PM

Right - have got rid of the LEDs and am now on Halfords Laser blue sidelights. Again - not close enough
Have just been onto power bulbs and have now bought the Philips blue vision jobbies :D
In the middle of all this i've bought some Halfords Ultra blue headlights. Not quite road legal (80/100) but are really good. They deffo are no worse than pukka Hid lights with regard to brightness so i'm not to worried about getting a pull for them :D

ring sports blue

the 100watt "not for street use" versions
thats what me and 2 of my mates have been useing with the led sidelamp bulbs :)

Brun - how do the new headlamp bulbs compare to, say, the Osram Silver Stars or Philips blue vision bulbs?

I'm after a bit more illumination for this winter but HIDs aren't within budget for the time being - so the "cough" slightly illegal "cough" route is tempting. ;)

Brun 08 September 2005 11:39 PM

They're really good.
I've been through loads of bulbs in my time. Phillips, Piaa, ring etc The problem i've found though is that one bulb may have a fantastic main beam but have a crap dipped beam and another bulb may have the opposite. These ultra blue jobbies seem to have the best of both worlds and look just right too :D

Get a HID kit for just over £100. Much better light, and looks
