On a serious note: Sounds like a load of sh1te to me.

In response to some misconception by Orawhatshisname on PF:

Im sure some of my fellow SNetter's will be along shortly after they've finished slaying everything on the road...

...usually, I just stick to slaying the odd rabbit or old biddy crossing the road, but I dont like to make a habit of it :D ;)

Never heard of one. Ask your make for a picture of the plaque in the car.

Bug eye WRC's are S8's and the current years are S10's. I guess there may have been an S4 about 6 years ago. That would make it the WRC in about 1999? Or was that pre WRC in which case it would have been the GpA rally car in 1999.

There would not have been many WRC's on the road. But I'd be surprised if there would be as many as 4 to be honest, 0 would be more likely! Who can afford £400k for a road car?

Interesting, I suppose it might be possible, I know where there's an ex Carlos Sainz scoob for sale for about £75K. Would prodrive produce a plaque for them though???

The WRC car of the time was called the P2000, I've never heard of a Subaru S4 and frankly find it very hard to believe that such a car exists.

(We're not talking about a tuned Audi S4, are we?)

Actually this could be a clue: (thanks Google!)

4WD Stock (S4)

The 4WD Stock class (S4) is reserved for four wheel drive (AWD) production-based cars that have limited performance modifications, and do not use rally tires. S4 cars must be as delivered from the factory in all aspects except those items specifically mentioned in these rules. Cars that do not qualify for S4 will be placed in the M4 class. The S4 rules are as follows:

Alternate wheels of the same width and diameter may be used. Offset must be within +/- .25" of stock wheel offset. Spacers may be used if total offset does not vary more than +/- .25" from OE wheel.

Any tires not listed as excluded from Stock class

No items may be removed from the interior or exterior of the car except for the spare tire and jack. All interior panels must be in place.
Shocks/Struts may be changed but must use stock locations for attachment and spring perches.

Brake pads/linings are unrestricted. No other changes to the brake system are
allowed.

The exhaust system may be replaced behind the last catalytic converter in the exhaust stream.

Cold air intake systems* and replacement air filter elements are allowed.
Aftermarket shift knobs and pedal covers are permitted.

Mud flaps and skid plates are permitted.

* On naturally aspirated cars replacement of intake system is allowed up to the throttle body. On turbo cars this permits replacement of the system up to the inlet of the turbocharger.
So, it could well be a car that's been used for rallying and which conforms to the S4 class rules - ie. it's pretty standard. As for the Prodrive 400bhp bit, I strongly suspect that's bogus.
