I wonder if any one can help or advise me on how to de-restrict a WRX. At the moment it will only go to approx 112mph (tested on the track :) )

Lots of places offer a de-resticter - it is a fairly simple process which costs around the £80 mark.
I don't know the nearest place to reading though |
Cost guide for a 1994 WRX delimiter:-
1. Pre 1997 Speedo Converter Box £175.00 2. 180 mph Speedo dial pre 1997 £31.48 Cost guide is only for information as I am sure places will do it for more/less money. Took mine to Graham Goode as I wanted a garage who knew what they were doing. PS get your brakes changed!!!! |
Try MVI services in Beaconsfield (nearish) on 01628 890 980. Ask for Niel, they've done loads of Subarus, mine for one.
cheers Justin |
Thanxs for your help guys!!!!!

You can save the cost of the 180mph speedo by simply sticking an MPH sticker over the KPH marks, in theory this makes the car illegal to drive on the continent, but I never want to go to France again http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Sure I've seen converter boxes for around a £100, I'd ring a few importers/dealers/garages, (non UK) to get prices |
What year WRX is your car, mines a 95 and the way to derestrict is to fit a small gearbox in the speedo drive cable.this done by pulling the speedo out of the fitting in the gearbox fitting in the derestricter then plug the speedo back in(yes its that easy) have a look at your car and you will see a rubber dust seal on the speedo cadle about 6 ins from the gearbox this is where the cable joins the box and where the derestricter fits
