Eibach Springs (rear orientation?!)
Just fitted some Eibachs (pro kit) to the RB5 (MY99), was using a guide for the P1 suspension when fitting.
On the rears (according to the guide), the springs look like they should be fitted with the narrower gapped coils (with the plastic covering) at the top of the shock. But when I went to fit them, they will only go on the other way round (see pics), due to difference in diameter of the coils. Should the Eibachs be fitted like this? http://www.crowbuckscoobies.co.uk/te...d/DSCF0381.JPG http://www.crowbuckscoobies.co.uk/te...d/DSCF0382.JPG Cheers, Chris RB5#264 |
the narrower diameter coil goes to the top to match up with the smaller rubber top mount.
I never read the instructions :D Andy |

I'll email Eibach and see what they say. |
Eibach part Numbers for you to make you sure you have the right ones.
7705-140 for your RB5 If they fit upside down, then I wouldn't worry too much. :D Andy |

It's strange how they fit perfectly the other way round, but not the 'so-called' correct way. Perhaps Eibach manufactured some batches differently? (older ones maybe?) I've emailed Eibach and await a response. So there are not going to be any implications on handling if they're fitted upside down? |
Got a response from Eibach.
The Pro Kit springs are supposed to be fitted so the progressive part of the spring (with plastic covering) is fit to the bottom. So mine are fitted ok it seems. |
