Facelift Bumper Fitting Problem

Hi All

I'm changing the front bumper on my MY95 GL to a turbo facelift classic bumper with P1 light covers and spots.

I've had a few problems trying to fit it. The arms that stick out to support the beam that the bumper sits on seem to be in the wrong place for the new bumper. It looks like the arms are intended to house the fog lamps as well as support the beam, but they are too close together to match up with the fog lamp holes in the bumper! Are the fogs further apart on the facelift classics?

The arms foul on the bumper so I either need to cut a slot in the bumper (will be hidden behind my lamp covers when fitted) for the arms to come through - but arms may still foul on my (small) P1 spots; or I could cut off the bottom half of the arms and everything would fit nicely - but is this damaging to the safety of the car? The first metal work to make contact in a frontal impact would be these arms yah see...

Anyone who's done a facelift or changed the bumper on a GL offer any advice?

Cheers,

Ben

Cheers Micky, that's helpful info. I've been having a trawl through thread on NASIOC and have posted a question there.

Here is my bumper beam just to clarify what I mean:

wrong bumper beam, you need one without the lower part.
