Centre Diff and the handbrake

Guys

I'm about to start hillclimbing/sprinting in a Prodrive built 98 grp N WRX-RA, without the ECD.

My question is how long will the diff last if I use the handbrake on events?

I've seen from other threads that it isn't good for the car, and I assume that the ECD somehow helps with this (by reducing the lock up on the centre diff perhaps?).

But if I do decide to use it should I expect the diff to give up the ghost within a few events or would the damage be more long term, say a year or so?

Not the most technically minded so this may not be correct. Can anybody shed any further light on this?

Cheers in advance.

Oliver.

the DCCD releases the centre diff to free when the handbrake light illuminates. just use the handbrake then budget for a DCCD box when yours breaks maybe?? i might have one for sale soon...
