i was meaning which cap of the two i already have(0.8bar or 1.3bar)is best to use on a pretty much standard engine? would it make much difference using higher boiling point 1.3bar cap on standard?

Not really, maybe a bit more cooling of water, would reduce chance of boiling over and losing small amount of water via the overflow bottle, but would also put more pressure on the water hoses - are they original old rubber or new ones, or even samco water hoses?

My MY00 UK Spec turbo had a 1.1 bar cap as standard IIRC.
I did burst a top rad hose the other weak, but that is after 58000 miles, two headgasket failures, and about 30000 miles running over 400 BHP, none of which will have helped. Since your engine is standard I think the 0.8 bar one would be fine. |
standard cap mate, high pressure cap will have no effect whatso ever!!

ok,thanks for replies/suggestions,i will use standard 0.8bar for now.
