Charlie and the choclate factory

just watching this

BIZZARE
tim burtons style really shows

the way its shot is pretty good, and slighty scareyish (for kids IMO)
but i cant help feeling that the original is miles better

but it seams a lot more "bizzare" then the original ever did

moses 31 July 2005 10:37 PM

looks excellent it got a very good rating im a big fan of charlie the original and i do like depp

mart360 31 July 2005 10:49 PM

Who did the soundtrack to this one???

ususlly burton teams up with danny elfman and the score is very movie enhancing....
not sure if it is going to work on this remake...

Dahl was / is a macarbe writer and the soft yanks may not be ready for full on charlie!!

i agree with micky, dark and scary just like the book. roald dahl didnt like the first film and wouldnt let them do the second (the glass elevator).reckon he would like tim burtons take on it tho.!

Nat 01 August 2005 12:24 AM

Soundtrack is Elfman again :)

Took my 6yr old neice to see it today. In her own special way, she told me that she thought it was sh1t!!

Original is better IMO, despite being nothing like the book.

Gear Head 01 August 2005 12:49 AM

Went to see it on saturday. Girlfriend loved it, I hated it! Got to keep them happy I suppose, + now I have an excuse to drag her along to see 'stealth'!

NotoriousREV 01 August 2005 07:37 AM

I enjoyed it, but thought Depp seemed a little "forced" at times. Some really good LOL moments though.

+Doc+ 01 August 2005 08:17 AM

Didnt like it at all, original is miles better and the umpalumpas had a better song.

StickyMicky 01 August 2005 08:57 AM

must admit, i thought the ooompa loompas were a bit crap, and there songs were gash

its one of the main reasons i thought the original one was better
but i kinda liked the whole dark scarey thing that was going on

need to watch it again on lsd or sumthing LOL

Gear Head 01 August 2005 09:25 AM

'Dark and scary' thing? I must have missed that bit. All the kids in te cinema I was in, looked bored to say the least.

StickyMicky 01 August 2005 11:17 AM

the whole thing is "dark"

Best film I've seen this year. Odd, strange, evil, sinister even, but very good.

Have you not been out much? :norty:

The new batman is all of the above and better.

J4CKO 01 August 2005 06:01 PM

I thought the first one was pretty sinister, especially the boat bit, remember the backgrounds of weird stuff. some good trivia, the line about the 'Snozberries tasting like real Snozberries' is apparently part of another Dahl book, the Snozberry was apparently used to refer to the 'Bobbies helmet' part of the male anatomy.

Nah, don't get out much these days, and I'd forgotton about that. Thanks for the pointer.

Paulo P 01 August 2005 09:33 PM

I'll have to watch it because it was filmed where I used to work :D

Mice_Elf 01 August 2005 10:18 PM

The Oompaloompas are all one man, copied over and over.....

mickywrx 01 August 2005 11:08 PM

^^^^^^ very true, apparently they'd asked one of the original ooompa lumpas if he wanted a part in the re-make, then re-neged on the deal!?! Paper talk AFAIK. Wouldn't mind seeing it myself, see how it compares to the original.

Greeny01 01 August 2005 11:24 PM

Saw this last night, and is very good.

You cant really compare it to the original as the story line is slightly different and as other folks have said it is quite strange...but good! go see it!
