Am looking at arranging an evening go-carting in North Manchester - probably Oldham.

Cost works out at c£30 each for 3 hours (racing as part of a team of three). Indoor track, but its the best indoor I've been on, and very well organised. Need 24-30 people (8-10 teams), so would any one be up for it?

If interest is there, will start looking at dates/deals etc

I'd love to - but I'm too fat - and small people always win!
Brings that bhp to weight ratio down a tadge

Are you coming to Northern Meet 4!

GaryC 09 August 2000 08:01 AM

Change of plan - Oldham has closed down (the carting not the town!!) so it looks like either Warrington or Manchester unless anyone has any other suggestions. (I'm deeming three sisters too risky weather-wise!)

Steve - Smallies may have better PWR, but Fatties get better grip round corners, although braking may be more of a problem http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif!!

.....and can't make Meet 4 as away that weekend!

yeah but three sisters have real karts dont they? none of this waterpump crap that some of the indoor places have (thinking of warrington...). And p/weight ration would not be quite so bad for heavy people - skill would play more a part.

Couldn't agree more Andy - Three Sisters is fantastic, BUT its outside, in Wigan, and were looking mid-late October!! - Aquaplaning in a go-cart whilst I am sure fun, isn't what I'm after!!

GaryC,

very true -- i was watching some people with 100cc 2 stroke karts and it scared the crap out of me just watching them, had extreme difficulty pointing in a straight line down the straight ! not for me....

gary, had my first experience about two months ago-- seriously good fun ( apart from hitting the tyres about thirty!!!! ouch!!) i'm definately up for it but it depends on dates due to work. i could muster at least two teams i think. pumpers.

By the way now we are officially into summer Gary why not consider three sisters!!!
Sure they will be only too pleased as their track cars for the racing school are now Subaru's and 70mph is a heel of a lot more fun tends to focus the mind somewhat!!!

GaryC 14 August 2000 02:05 PM

Summer? PAH! what Summer??

We were at 3 sisters three weeks ago. Brilliant fun, and reasonable cost. BUT it likely to be October until we can organise a evenings carting, and the weather is likely to be wetter than a very wet thing!!

Don't forget, this is Wigan we're talking about!!

Sounds like a great idea - Shame Karting NW closed down - Howard sold out to the developers http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

There's a new place down in Northwich in part of the old ICI Winnington Labs. I've had a quick look in there before now, but never driven there - the track is about the same size as KNW (Oldham) was, but I can't remember what the karts were like

The only problem with going onto 3 sisters is that you end up mixing it (or rather acting like a mobile chicane for http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) the pro-karts and others, while you're in your hire kart - on the other hand the bacon butties are good http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Cheers

Steve
