what induction kit

need you guys to help
just taken off my old knackered k&n cone
and need to get something new, want a (cold air induction kit)
have a 1996 sti version2 what do you lot think would be best

jazzasti 30 July 2005 04:02 PM

if i were you i"d put the standard box back on with an uprated filter such as green! with this back onthe filter will already be shielded from any heatsoak etc...and has it"s own cold air feed!!!!! if it aint broke don"t fix it! that"s what i"ve learnt.but the decision is yours!

sti 360 31 July 2005 12:58 AM

that would be cool but as i bought the car with the k&n on it and dont have the standard box, i have no other choice but to put someyhing better on it.

ive read on this site that to make a car go allot better all you have to do is replace all the standard stuff,so ill put a cold air kit on it,have been driving around today with no air filter on and it was much more active so that means that i realy need a new filter

scooby_matt 31 July 2005 10:16 AM

Not a fan of the Viper, only ever heard bad things about them. Bit pricey aswell

By your way of thinking, all you need to do is replace the whole car for something faster :D

sti 360 31 July 2005 05:22 PM

well the exhaust has to come off for sure and so on ,the more you change the more bhp

sti 360 31 July 2005 05:25 PM

so what is the best induction or filter for my car ?

sti 360 31 July 2005 07:50 PM

well then that test tells it all ,the apex looks to be the best as show by that simple test!

the hks i think would be better with some motorcross filter oil on it which is sticky and would need to be cleaned every couple of weeks, but if you want the best out of a filter you should clean them once a month any way

Aztec Performance Ltd 01 August 2005 04:18 PM

just replace the K&N filter with another one. Simple and cheap.

...and build a box to enclose it in :)

sti 360 01 August 2005 04:49 PM

yeah i think so ,ive just been doing some research on the net about them and they only make the filter but not the induction kit is that right ,costs £105 but looks lush, would have to make a cold air section

but does it get rid off the resinator box also do they do them for my version 2

tath 01 August 2005 06:14 PM

sorry to hijack but how much are the replacement elements for the hks and where from?

sti 360 01 August 2005 06:30 PM

so i take it you have a hks is it any good and have you boxed it off for cold air

it's loud and it certainly looks the business. the recirc DV can be clearly heard through it as a big manly 'chuff' :)

bit worried by the apparent complete and utter lack of filtration tho...
