Hello all,
Northern Meet 3, Sunday 30th April 2000, East bound side of Birch services, on the M62 between J18/19, 10 am meet.
If you enjoyed Northern Meet 2, I am confident you will enjoy No 3 just as much.
Final stop is at the Nont Saras pub, like last time. I have about 10 people who have already expressed interest. A possible Gold Leaf Team Lotus Elise, a 22B or Evo 6, tough choice for some, a Westfield Seven, and possibly a Hot Ford, along with the compulsory Impreza turbo's.
My original thread with the route has been removed, probably for the best, but now I will have to gauge numbers, based on your responses, to create hard copies of the route.

Can we still go past the windmills?

MTR 11 April 2000 06:46 PM

Boomer,
Sorry, no we aren't this time. How long have you had this fetish?
Read your E mail by the way.
Are you attending THE MEET.

I hope to be able to make the meet.

As we now finish at "The Nont", maybe we can have an un-official trip up to the windmills after lunch? It wouldn't be part of the official meet (i would love to create the route, but i am in Brum and can't check the roads), but if anyone was interested in windmills, then it would be nice trip.

Big, tall, white windmills - with their sails whooshing just like a turbo. Calm yet powerful, silent yet strong - er, anyway - does anyone else fancy seeing the windmills?

Well, now, I can see those windmills off to my left as I drive over Nont Sarah's most mornings to work, they often look like giants to me and sometimes I want to veer off and fight them.

Ha, ha. Actually they are off towards Howarth I think and Howarth has a chippy...... and a steam railway that does Sunday lunches. (Book in advance, there's no chance on the day apparently.) I'll be game if I can get to the meet.

Wow - i never realised!

There are some _more_ windmills up towards Howarth (on Ovenden Moor at OS SE-042-315). However, i don't think that there is a through road past them.

Ooooh, the 30th sounds fantastic!!!

Oh, and for the benefit of the windmill-challenged folks - the original farm that i referred to is at Coal Clough (OS SD896284-ish), on the road that joins Mereclough to Mytholm (sorry, the number is not marked on my map).

Hey! I'm in the process of buying a house on the windmill road http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I'd invite you all round for tea but it might scare the neighbours to be http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I really enjoyed Northern Meet 2...a fantastic day out. Well worth the trip from Plymouth.

Sadly I am on the continent on the 30th otherwise I would have been delighted to attend.

Mick,

i was born up the road in Clitheroe, so i know the Fylde Coast windmills well!

Maybe that is why i am getting soooo excited about the 30th?
