Add barclays direct to your list, they gave me a quote within £100 of adrian flux, but the barclays one was protected ncb and had a quarter of the excess flux were quoting.
(plus there were other benefits too, that i cant remember).

Hmmm I dunno about Barclays. I rang them and said "I'm up for renewal can you give me a quote." They said you have to have the renewal document in front of you before they can quote. I said I just wanted an idea of costs and I knew the exact renewal premium but they still weren't interested. I said "ok, I'll ring you later" and didn't. If they can't be bothered to even try and sound interested in my business, they don't get it, even if I have to pay more elsewhere.

Huff.

Anyway, I think I'll renew (I'm now with AXA through A-Plan) as the quote was 898 with 350 XS. It was 900 with 450 XS last year through Orion so I'm happy with that. I'm 28 with 4 years NCB and 3 points (hey, not speeding though). Oh yeah, it's an STi with exhaust, suspension, brakes, wheels and air filter, parked on the road.

Back in April last year, I was told by A-Plan that AXA didn't do imports anymore. I still got a good quote from them through Independant £750 with a tracker £850 without.

RE> Barclays, I rnag them and got the same story, the bloke said he would quote me but he would give a better deal if I had the renewal premium. I don't know why they can't just give you their best price in the hope they you go with. All this mucking about puts you right off some companies...

I'll tell you why they do it.
They want you to buy it when you phone up, not keep phoning them 'shopping' for quotes.
I followed there advice and rang them once i had ALL other quotes, then told them the cheapest price less 100 quid http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
they then beat it to buggery and also gave me protected ncb, an excess that was a fifth of everyone elses !

Please tell me if Barclays have changed. They gave me a very good value quote, with a £100 excess.
Only problem was that they would not insure me to drive other cars 3rd party! (global policy last August) - this was the primary reason why they had a low excess (thats what they said) compared to Privelege (Barclays Direct has some link with Privelege)
