Did anyone else see Clarkson on Top of the Pops last night?

Didn't see the whole thing, but some American rap band or something finished and Jeremy said bluntly "That was absolute drivel.. it really was truly appalling"

His poor co-presenter didn't know what to say, so just smiled embarrassedly and the crowd were a bit uncertain too. Then she said that it was their debut in the UK, and Jeremy said "Well I hope they never come back to the UK then" And then an "oooh" went through the crowd!

Like I say, didn't see it all in context, but he's going to get fired from the BBC if he's not careful!

Have you noticed how many TV ads and Radio ads JC is doing now. It must be down to the fact he says what he thinks so even if you don't like him knowing that they think people will believe him.

Maybe we should do an "honesty" thread, or perhaps a forum dedicated to saying what you actually think instead of miost threads on here that end up in a public game of one-up-manship.

I'm sure that there must be many at the BBC who would like to see Clarkson 'dissappeared'. Only the fact that his show (TG) is so popular prevents them from putting the knives in.

It would be a shame to see him end up on Sky.

Maybe the young pc-literate didn't know that clarkson was insulting the crap music. He was merely 'deferring the compliments' towards the 'deferred quality music' :D :D

If the band were truely crap - then good on him for saying how it is. Far too much generic dross being played on the air waves these day ;)

Mart is correct on that. Jezza said in his column in the Sun that he would be appearing on TOTP. It was really funny and Fearn Cotton didnt know what to say. And because it was live they couldnt edit any of it.

Great. Now a load of bands won't appear, JC will be smug for ten minutes, and the BBC will be the loser overall. Whether or not they're good is irrelevant ....... they're popular, and the clue in the title ("Top Of The Pops" not "Top Of What A 45-Year Old Thinks Should Be Popular") means that the Beeb should be showing whatever da kidz r buying.

Why on earth put someone who thinks music begins and ends with Freebird on a music show? You might as well stick Fearne Cotton on Top Gear for all the sense it makes.

Not sure why everyone thinks JC is going to get the sack, every word that's not live could be edited out......so what you see is what they want you to see.
Certainly if it gets everyone talking about it it must be good for ratings.....

TOTP was live this week. I didn't see it because I was on the M1 on my way home but I did hear Scott Mills (doing the charts on R1) talking to Fearn and Jezza as they were due to go out live on the beeb.

Actually what appears on TOTP and radio 1, and every other commercial radio station is decided in advanced by a bunch of middle aged w@nkers trying to kid themselves that they're 'down wiv da yoof':mad: The decisions they make are in turn decided by the size of the 'incentives' provided by the record company:mad:

It's just the same as ll this bollox that the record companies are peddling about pirating being the major cause of their sales slump, sh!t product is the real cause.

PS I don't know why they bother putting Fearne Cotton on anything:confused: As far as I can make out, her only purpose in life is making you think Edith Bowman's not really all that useless.

Having no idea who Fearne Cotton was, I had to google her. Now I know what she looks like at least, I can see why she is presenting TOTP. Young and pleasing to the eye. JC is neither.

I haven't seen TOTP at all for over 10 years. I haven't watched it regularly for around 20 years. Always seemed to be rubbish music with epilepsy inducing camera work. Totally showing my age here, but TOTP went downhill ever since they got rid of Hot Gossip.

I honestly don't know how it has survived. Having said that, all music channels seem to be sh1te now. MTV1-99 seems to be utter crap now, and all the other music channels I get here play nothing but rap.
