Just back from my european tour

I have been back in the uk for a week now, but it has taken me a little while to get myself straight.

I had always wanted to go for a drive round europe and after our mini trip, i can say that it was well worth it.
In the end we managed to visit France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland and covered 3196 miles in 17 days.

Anyway, here are a few snaps to bore you with...

nice, i am planning to do the same next month. the view from switzerland looks amazing

Yeh, i have got a few more piccies:)

For me, Switzerland was my highlight. The scenery is just incredable.

If anyone is considering a trip like this, then just go for it. It really gives you a feel for the countrys that you pass through. Not as quick as flying but alot more rewarding IMO :D

Sounds like you had a great time.

Lovely photos.

Just a shame that some hairdresser left his car in the way of some of the shots ;)

Great photos :)

Going for an "extended" drive round europe is something me and the missus have been thinking about doing :)

I hope you popped up the north face of the Eiger whilst you were there ;) ;)
The train is just cheating

Did you go skating in the ice display :-) Tires you out very quickly at that sort of altitude :)

SiDHEaD 25 July 2005 04:47 PM

We're planning on doing this sort of thing next year Greg. The fact that you managed it in your Elise means we should just about fit our stuff in the S ;)

greg.g 25 July 2005 06:28 PM

Go for it andy. You wont regret it :D

That ice palace was a strange place. For anyone who has'nt been, its a cavern filled with ice scuptures at the top of a mountain but about 30ft deep into the ice.

Petem95 25 July 2005 06:48 PM

Looks quality greg, Im planning on doing the same next month and one of the 2 cars we are taking is an Elise, and I notice you appear to have managed to fit all your kit for 2 people and a tent + sleeping bags in one Elise?!!! How?!!

We had planned on taking tents, but decided there wouldnt be the room in the cars as the Elise can hold so little?

Also were you just camping in random places, or on proper siteS?

greg.g 25 July 2005 08:42 PM

You can fit a fair bit in the elise if you pack really carefully. That means stuffing stuff into any available nooks and crannies (ooerrr vicar):o
We bought small sleeping bags that compress into fairly small bags, one of which was stuffed at the end of the passenger foot well.
We camped on two pre booked campsites and the rest of the time was spent in hotels, some of which were pre booked. We wanted to leave a certain amount of flexiblity in the trip.
The clothing was limited, and we rolled the garments together to save space.

So it can be done. It just needs careful packing.

Below is our route.
