Easy for him to say

On Thursday, Mr Blair urged Londoners to be calm and to get back to business as normal following a series of minor explosions.

Great isn’t it? Londoner’s are getting bombed left right and centre as result of the Governments actions but meanwhile Blair has buggered off to his country retreat out of harms way and the rest of parliament is off for an 80 day summer holiday.

Thanks for everything Tony, have a nice break from it all mate. Londoners will cope while you're away….

Would it be possible for 'any' country leader to use public transport

Martin_Aimless 22 July 2005 05:23 PM

I expect he has to get packing for his annual holiday. Hmm... wouldn't mind an 80 day summer break myself, but I don't think I'll be visiting London anytime soon.

Diamond Dave 22 July 2005 06:53 PM

FFS Bucky give it a rest. You criticise Blair at every opportunity. Does Blaming Labour help you live with your own mistakes any better? Labour wouldn't still be in power if the other parties could offer a viable alternative. The halcyon days of Mrs.Thatcher are long gone and,for the time being, the tories are a spent force. Hopefully this will not remain so for too long but for the time being deal with it.
You could always try and get into politics and change it from within.
I'm sure you've got all the qualifications and personality traits to become a tory MP ;)

I gather that the whole of Whitehall is closed down when Billy wants to be driven to Parliament in his bullet proof Jaguar!

Just like the Russian leaders in thier Zils in the days of the USSR.

Political points?? Don't need them. Just stating the facts.

If you wanted to state facts, how about these:
  • Labour deservedly won the last two elections because more people voted for them than anyone else
  • The UK is the economic powerhouse of Europe
  • The UK is experiencing the longest period of low unemployment in her history
  • The UK hasn't had 15% interest rates under the Blair government
  • Terrorist bombings are caused by terrorists much in the same way that drunken brawls are caused by drunks
  • You lose

Actually, all of those so called 'facts' are open to dispute. Although I'm sure you would see them presented as such on New Labour's website.

unclebuck 23 July 2005 07:07 PM

We're getting off topic here but in response to the New Labour propaganda:

Labour deservedly won the last two elections because more people voted for them than anyone else

With only 30% of the vote? I think not.

The UK is the economic powerhouse of Europe

Wrong again: Provisional data from the Office of National Statistics showed that GDP growth was a mere 0.4 per cent between April and June, while year-on-year growth registered 1.7 per cent - the weakest score since 1993.

The UK is experiencing the longest period of low unemployment in her history

Another myth: There are more young people neither working nor studying nor training than when Labour came to office in 1997. Even the Government admits that barely a third of the people going through it (the 'New Deal') find jobs that last just three months.

The UK hasn't had 15% interest rates under the Blair government

Not for much longer: Gordon Brown has been branded the "cheating Chancellor" after he changed his own Treasury rules - just hours before the latest Government borrowing figures revealed how his economic management has plunged Britain deeper into the red.

New official statistics show that last month the current account budget deficit of £4.7 billion was some £1.2 billion higher than a year ago, while state borrowing rose to £5.9 billion, up by £1.5 billion. The public sector net cash requirement was £12.3 billion, the highest level ever for the month of June.

Terrorist bombings are caused by terrorists much in the same way that drunken brawls are caused by drunks

Whatever that means....

You lose

Clearly not. In fact you lose because you use spin and lies to make false claims.

suresh.... stick to the post...

billy is the epitomy of all he wants...

unfortunatly when you are bought and payed for by others, it becomes evident when they pull strings...

do you honsetly believe a tru paid up socialist is going to lean the other way and soften his values...

wake up and smell the roses.... can you not see we are becomeing the STATE he wants... democracy dont make me laugh. !!!

if billy is so good.. takes out saddam dictator hussain.. then he must follow through and remove mugabe, and numerous other dictators...

nope all he like the rest of the elite wants to do is posture on the world stage.. its always the case of comparing what he hasnt got to what the others do..

if chirac or schroder started having daily flower throwing contests, you can bet your bottom dollar billy would follow suite...

if your illustrious leader is that good, ask him this question...

following dunblane,,,, all hand guns were made illegal ..#

so why do we now have an explosion in gun crime???

It seems to me that ub disproved your assersions point by point. You can't counter with anything other than to call him deranged. I think you need to take a look in the mirror and remove the rose tinted glasses.

OH FFS!

1. Labour won the last election. Fact.
2. The booming UK economy is the envy of Europe. Fact.
3. Unemployment under ILO statistics (which NL adopted when they came to power because of all the Tory massaging) is the lowest in Europe except Switzerland and has been for some time. Fact.
4. Interest rates are low low low. Under the Tories, they hit 15% in 1988. Fact
5. As TB said when being quitioned if the war in Iraq caused terrorist attacks in the UK, he said that terrorists cause terrorist attacks. Fact.
6. You lose. Fact. :hjtwofing

I get my figures on the booming UK economy from The Economist you chump. Whereas you obviously get yours from the Tory website (where you are probably the only visitor).

GCollier 23 July 2005 09:52 PM

The only person looking stupid here is you Unclebuck, with your incessant droning on and blaming of the government for your own failure to aspire to anything in life.

Anyway, FYI...

Labour took 35.19% of the vote in the 2005 election. Did Major or Thatcher ever win with a majority of the popular vote? No.

The UK has the highest GDP per capita of any similarly large country in the EU (ahead of both Germany and France) and only outperformed by a few much smaller economies.

The UK has record numbers of people in work, and far lower unemployment than comparable economies - German and France are nearly double.

The markets are pricing in interest rate falls not rises within the next 12 months, so a rise of rates to even 5% let alone 15% in the near future looks unlikely.

Gary.

The gathering economic gloom

WHEN job losses are announced on the TV news it is called an economic slowdown; when your neighbour loses his job, it is a recession; and if you lose your job it will be a slump. On July 23rd, Britain got an indication of a definite slowdown when Rover, one of the country’s biggest car-makers, announced that it was laying off 1,500 workers. Few City forecasters are yet predicting an outright recession for Britain, although several are now warning of a sharp slowdown.…

What the **** are you babbling on about?? You know jack **** about my personal circumstances, but I can almost guarentee I'm better off than you are, from what I read in your posts.

As I recall you are second only to our ill infprmed ex-pat friend in your delusion that people have 'never had it so good'. You need to get your head out of Billy's butt and look around at what is going on in this country currently.

Well if even a tool like you can make a success of themselves in Great Britain, then the government must be doing something right ;)

QED.

Thankyou.
