Trust me it's necessary to cut a hole in the wing for the pipework to fit otherwise you can't get the correct approach angle from the pipework to link up with the turbo. This is especially necessary on pre 97 models. MY97 on i'm not so sure about as this was the MY this FMIC was primarily designed for :)

I don't know which bright spark it was that found out it could fit earlier models by chopping your car up :D:D LOL

Doh! Having looked quickly at the pics hadn't noticed it was an early car  holes just looked in similar position to later ones.

Ahhh now that explains the questioning :)

Actually it's a very "stealth" MY99...not :D:D I think that the 90 degree turbo kinda gives it away :D

I've got a MY99 and fitted a hybrid FMIC, I had to join the two wholes together, it would appear the pipe needs to go exactly where the bit of metal is between the two wholes. couple of minutes and it's gone.

I've seen your thread. Did a good job & probably a lot quicker than I managed on my own :D

On a MY95 there's really only one hole in the wing....so you just have to make a REALLY BIG one with the angle grinder :D

:notworthy respect to you, I don't mind using a grinder but I only had a metal blade for the 9" which is a bit of an animal and I wouldn't think of putting it anywhere near the engine bay :nono: I'd of ended up cutting lines across the wing when it kicks.

We chickened out and used a hacksaw, made sure everything was covered to stop any metal fillings going over, around or in the engine

I used a grinder aswell. just get in there!
I had to trim the back of my nearside towing eye bracket aswell. all exposed metal was sprayed with galvanising spray. It's like spray on zinc coating.

sorry to bring up a old thread...
Did everybody that got there intercoolers off jimmy at underground race uk recieve them?
i've ordered 1 off of him and it was sent out last friday so jimmy told me that it would take 3 working days to arrive, so gave it till wednesday and still hadn't turned up, contacted him thurs and friday trying to find out whats happened to it and if i can have a tracking number and i never really get a straight answer off of him, just i'll get it too you as soon as possible.
So i'm beggining to get a bit paranoid now that its not gonna turn up.

vulnax999 13 February 2006 08:02 PM

Sounds like he ain't has chance to send it yet??

Keep ringing him then!

Don't think he stores them there in WIdnes, but further afield in a warehouse or similar and gets them in as needed!
