Are Walbro pumps always noisy?

Just fitted an in-tank walbro fuel pump and the noise isn't especially loud but its getting irritating.

Is this normal?
Is there a better quieter pump that performs better than oem?

Mine whines a lot but goes silent when the engine runs, ie pressure is established (3 bar).
You can get a loader noise if the pump is touching something, ie a bracket, in the tank.
The hollow tank will act as an amplifier.
Did you force anything as you re-installed it?
The assembly simply drops into position if you fold the fuel level sensor float up.
Graham.

I was careful with the installation so I'm sure its as good as it can be; there's nothing metal in contact with the pump body. Just seems too noisy for a daily driver. Its a constant whirring / buzzing noise. BTW I'm using an Aeromotive regulator (sim to the SX).

With a quiet exhaust it is certainly noticeable.

Very quiet exhaust - more boxes than pipe.
