turbo smoking after oil change?
Just had a fluid service...rear diff, gearbox and engine oil. Put in 10w 40 fully synthetic in engine. Now I have smoke coming from around the turbo and chimney on running up at temperature. Did not have any before...don't know what the old oil was.
Is it an overfill problem. Too thin oil???? Would that make it smoke. |
Did you spill any oil on the turbo/Exhaust while doing the gearbox oil? its very easy to do and will take a while to burn off
having your oil level spot on is critical, check the level as this can be the cause of the problem.
Could have spilled some and it is a wrapped downpipe so will have soaked in.
If level is wrong what happens??? |
as far as i know 10w40 is never een full synthetic...
If it's coming from around the turbo rather than the zorst it's most likely spillage, particularly as the gear box is filled through the dip stick which is right next to the turbo.

Used Triple R from motor world. Says its synthetic on the can.
Doesn't smell like engine oil...sort of more acrid....is that what semi synthetic gear oil smells like when smoking???
