Do you invest in stocks and shares?

If so, what's your portfolio like?

been a member of a share club for about 3 years now. we started it with 9 of us, now down to 5, having paid off the members who have left. knew nothing about all this sort of thing until the club formed and have been learning ever since. we were about 22% up on friday. it's all relatively low value stuff (£30pcm) so we're never going to retire on the proceeds but it has certainly been interesting - and sorts out those who will make an effort to get things done from those who like to sit about an talk about it! yes, there have been quite a few arguments!

have had some 150-200% gains (telford homes, nhp, london pacific/berkeley technology :notworthy ), a few total losses (thanks marconi :Whatever_ ) and then there's the ones that don't do anything. 50% on shell's not bad over the last couple of months though! keep buying that optimax!!

My only advice is NEVER listen to a hot tip!
I was given one by someone. I would have ignored but he is a family friend estimated to be worth circa 75 million. Owns a Bent GT a Bent Arnage, Gallardo, AMV8 arriving in Dec etc you get the picture. So I thought this guy knows what he is talking about and took the tip. I am now a cool £10000 down

Small oil companies are worth a short term gamble. With the oil price as it is, if one of the small explorers gets a sniff of oil the shares jump. Bough desire at 12p and they hit nearly 70p a few months back. Northern also look as though they might do well.

good advice. do your own research and don't be lead by the masses - you will only end up chasing increasing prices and generating inflated profits for everyone who got in early

Yes. I wonder if he is worth £75million as a result of giving dodgy share tips to muppets like me
