Is Ebay populated by halfwits or timewasters?
 

Ebay confuses the hell out of me. I was bidding on something with a buy it now price of £14.99 and the 'winning' bid was £19. How stupid are these people?

Also I see the same stuff from sellers with similar profiles (feedback etc) that one seller shifts for £50+ more than the other guy. How does that work?

People get what I call Ebay fever. They get caught up in the "excitement" and end up paying over the odds. Happened with one of my auctions, I sold a 2nd hand item for more than I bought it for, and it said on the auction it was 2nd hand with bits missing!

Its the 'car boot sale' of the internet generation.

Not necessarily stupid at all. The BIN price is only quoted before the first bid and then it disappears. Therefore those that come along and bid after the first bid, not ever seeing the listing previously, haven't a clue it even ever had a BIN.

Better advert, more professional looking but in most cases, luck!

90% of my customers, I think, honestly land on a page (usually the 1st) and buy. They very rarely look that far if they find what they want.

I've put this theory to test many times by various methods and it always concludes in the same result.

It's full of Nigerians now!

Ive had a product i sold, and the seller than contacted me and asked how do i connect it and use it!!!

so i spent many an email explaining....

theother one is some printer parts i have sold.

one section comes as three parts tray roller and chip

i advertised the tray for sale...... people then get hacked of because it has no roller or chip....

thats a maintenance kit very slight differance!!!

Not as stupid as you, given that you could have "bought it now" for £4 less than it eventually went for :) :p

Not really on both counts because it was an ebay shop (or whatever they call it) and the buy it now for £14.99 remained at the bottom of the page. Besides they seem to have loads of them so I'll pick my moment and get one for £8 or less (or not at all) because thats all its worth to me.
