Nope that was a brown pant moment......we had a perished hose that spilt its dirty load all in the car. Though just need to sort the wiring out & then we can get the girls in to spring clean ;)

White reminds me of the Millenium dome structure...looks good though & I like the red racing harness

Hol 08 July 2005 05:42 PM

Be careful when you weld, the metal is surprisingly thin on the floors.

It caught me out, first weld. :(

erm,,yes;)

the six point are quite easy to fit as no welding is involved,,it just bolts together.only takes a few hours to fit ,,unlike my cage,,more like 3 weeks to fit:)

I would recommend me to fit it :D
But seeing as you’re in Kent its abit far

The guys at custom cages (who supply the cage kits) do an OK job but they aren’t as cheap as me and mine is fitted better :)

Other than that it really is very dodgy who you get to fit your cage especially if you are using it for competition as some of the cages i have seen the weld quality is very poor and that’s being kind.(and that is on cars being prepared by professional outfits not just clubmen)
Find someone who can weld (properly) and understands what they are trying to achieve.
Of course if it’s more for show then a bolt in cage will suffice.

roll cage installations

Hi,

Sorry no pics available but........I see several people mention long fitting times.

You may alrady know but to save you lots of time when you are fitting a complicated cage, instead of removing the roof panel as we do.....

Obtain templates of the floor mounting positions.

Cut out the floor at these points, slot in the cage without the floor mounting plates and you can the weld the upper joints without hassle.

once you have done the upper joints move the cage upwards and weld in the floor plates where you previously removed the floor.

Don't forget to plate each side of the floor.

Good luck

H
