How good are the legacy GTB's?

Hi all,
newbie here :)

I have the opportunity to buy a Legacy GTB, and as I want a bigger estate, this is preferential to an Impreza Wagon - no offence!

It's a 2000 model, which I assume (Wrongly perhaps?) shares an engine with an Impreza - if so, which one?

It's sold as a 2.0 Twin turbo, putting out 280BHP.

It's done near on 80K.

So, does nayone know anything about these cars, are they a good engine, and anything particular to look out for, any weak points etc etc?

Thanks all

I can't believe I missed this thread ;) What was the outcome of your research, 20GTB?

If you are on the UKLegacy BBS, be sure to make yourself known :)

Easy Mark, I am forced by my current situation to drive an auto BL5 GT at the mo' so the temper is even shorter than normal :p

As for you, Comper :p

So, do we have a new GTB owner yet?? :D

I fear for my life saying it but when I needed a Bigger estate (With Grunt) I imported a Mitsi Legnum(Galant) VR4 - 2.5 Twin Turbo AWD Active Yaw etc etc etc. Mine was around 320Bhp with the aftermarket Zorst and Controller.

Full leather, Climate Huge sunroof the works.

Well worth a look I'd say. I only sold mine as I needed to raise cash for a business venture otherwise I'd still have it as a daily runner.

DISCLAIMER: -

Absolutely and quite categorically no Offence or slander aimed at Legacys though as I like those aswell :):):)

Gutsy move there Listy - the Legnum is a worthy competitor in many ways :)

If 20GTB is checking (which it seems is unlikely): Watch out for anything with an AYC rear diff, as that puts it in the EVO league for 4500km (or less if some Japan owners are to be believed) diff oil changes (a pain unless you are going to DIY it).

Otherwise, thay are not bad at all, but have been discontinued due to various reasons. However, you hardly see them in Japan at all thesedays. Legacys are everywhere though
