CBs only work at a range of 2-4 miles, no?

thanks so far, forgot to say they need to be legal in france and germany as well

Bought some Audiovox from the States, like the Motorola ones you get over here, but these have about 4 times the power.
Not sure whether they're legal or not, but they look just like the ones from here but work over much longer distances (about 5 miles line of sight it says) and because very few other people have them, the frequencies don't get jammed like they do when skiing for example. Bought them from some firm via eBay - the only transaction I've ever done where I haven't been ripped off! Can find out the firm's name if you're particularly interested although I'm sure it's not that hard to find on a search. |
We hired some business class Motorola radios for WRC Catalunya a few years back. Much better than the models than Argos etc sell for £50 a pair.

From the link Richiewong posted, these look like what we took to Catalunya:
http://www.showcomms.co.uk/products.cfm?ID=317 Having used the PMR446 radios numerous times, the Motorolas were far far better IMHO. |
The Motorolas that Chris has mentioned rocked, they were really good. We have some Binatone cheapo crap pmr's that are virtually unusable. I've used a small Motorola hand held pmr before and that was much better than the Binatone (as well as being much more expensive).
My advice is to not buy cheap! |
