hoskib 09 June 2005 06:59 PM

looks like an afterburner vortex to me mate. think the H&S style has a lip on the silencer can? or maybe a flatter face on the end of the can (without the big radius on the corner) can't quite remember to be honest, but i think you've got the afterburner.

hope that's the one you wanted;):D

the lip on the H&S is on the front of the can (where the tailpipe meets it) where you've got a nice radius leading from the front edge to the silencer diameter.

at least i think that's the H&S box i'm looking at in a mag.

either way mate, you've got an afterburner vortex:) (either that or we've both been sold some other make;):D)

Anger 09 June 2005 07:20 PM

Mmmmmm. will give Scoobyworld a ring tomorrow to clarify.

Lee

Anger 09 June 2005 07:39 PM

Has it got the vortex baffles if you look down the tail pipe mate

good point that mate, didn't spot that. my vortex (few months old) also tapers from the silencer to the tailpipe.

might be a design change, but as you say codie, a call to scoobyworld should clear things up. can't see them selling you an H&S unless they told you first:confused:

will be interested to hear how you get on:)

Anger 09 June 2005 08:28 PM

I ordered mine from scoobyworld and it came straight from H & S direct

WRXtra power 09 June 2005 09:35 PM

H&S do make the Afterburner Vortex, thought everyone knew that.

Quote from Scoobyworld: We have spent many months working alongside exhaust experts Hayward and Scott, developing the Afterburner product even further, and are now very pleased to be able to introduce the new Afterburner Vortex

Look for yourself

have looked inside,it has spiraling baffle, and has the burnt tip. the only difference i can see is where the tail pipe meets the can, mine is flat were as yours tapers.
maybe it is the new afterburner, will give them a call tomorrow:)

thought that it might be a new design, glad it's all sorted:) you'll love the sound:thumb:

to answer scoobyjimbo (and hopefully as codie will find out;)) fitting is a nice and easy job. the vortex was the easiest to get on the rubber hangers of all the b/boxes i've fitted to my scoob.

recomend a new centre section to b/box gasket though, i found mine ok for a couple of changes, but they weren't on too long to be honest:D

Anger 10 June 2005 06:10 PM

Ive got the full decat version so i got a garage to fit mine

Glad you got it sorted lee, post some pictures when you get it fitted :)

Trashman 10 June 2005 09:45 PM

 I thought there were 2 versions - angled exit and straight exit (still are on the website?), though the design did change a while back also (but thought more like 12 months or more coz I was looking at the vortex just before I got the Scoob)

codie247 11 June 2005 11:09 AM

fitted the afterburner this morning. thought the noise was not as bad as people were saying. must have needed to warm up. ffs what a noise,it sounds great:thumb:

went for a drive, tried with windows down big smile, even started laughing at one point:cuckoo: well bearable with the window up. love the noise and love the look.
