Any wheel / tyre experts around?? urgent info required

Hi all,

sory for the urgency but..

my wife managed to write off her car this morning ( groan) and it is being removed tommorow...

thing is she has 4 good alloys and tyres on it and i was wondering if they will fit my MK1 toledo

she has 6.5J x15 H2 et 35 fitted 4 stud

ts a 91 rover 216 gti 4 stud...

it originally had 6JX 15,s fitted

I know mine needs 6J X15 H2 et38

will these fit, if so how much will they affect the speedo ?? would it be under or over

i have this info as well

http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/fitme...kesearch=Rover

http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/fitme...akesearch=Seat

mines the toledo 97 4stud

any help would be appreciated

It's more the size of the tyres which will affect the speedo reading.

ie If the rolling radius is altered as both wheels are 15"

You can check the effect on the speedo here.

from those links the bore size is 1mm different, however you might get away with that.

Just a quickie, has the car been assessed by the in's co's assessor, this usually takes a few days to sort. If you change the wheels on the car and they are not 'standard' then you may have a problem with the insurance. If putting other wheels/tyres on the car make sure they are legal.

Would be a shame to void you ins and not get paid out.

You just need to worry about the position of the bolt holes, are the rover wheels holes at the same diameter as the toledo wheels. The ET 35 and ET 38 bit refers to the offset of the wheels, and 3mm should not make any noticeable difference.

Hi All,

thanks for the info,

yes the wheels fitted, but i left them on the wifes incase there were any problems..

i could have left my wheels on her car, as they were an oem fit, although hers came with 15 inrims as standard...

once the ins co decide what to do, can we recover the alloys or do we loose them ... there prolly worth 100-150 she,s only going to get roughly 500 back all shame to loose them

The insurance company won't give a toss about the wheels, once the assessor has been they will have nothing more to do with it, they will contact a salvage company to take it away and dispose of it.
If the wheels fit your car you may as well have them, otherwise some monkey at the salvage yard will have them. The same goes for any aftermarket stereo gear you may have fitted.

The salvage company took the car this morning, they dont know wheter it will be repaired or not... although she has been told over the phone it was a write off..
