My03 Brake pads?
 

Cars (03WRX) going in for its 20k service and feel sure that the pads are going to want replacing and dont really want to be ripped off by the main dealer so can anyone tell what type and where I can get hold of some if required and what i am likely going to have to pay.I live near Leeds............ thanks powerman:)

Personally rate the Ferodo DS2500's not cheap but a good all round pad.
Also get some braided brakelines and good fluid.

i presume these will fit straight in to the standard caliper and be ok with the standard disc(front only req)

Yes, direct replacements, fitting standard calipers and work fine with standard discs.

You could save yourself loads of cash, and have the full service including the pad replacement at www.scoobyclinic.com :cool: They supply and fit Ferodo DS2000's for £90+vat for WRX, and their labour charges are £20/hr, 1/4 of the dealer rates :eek: I used to have EBC Reds in my 03WRXPPP, and they only lasted 6k and 6 months :mad: The OE's which were in and half worn when I bought the car lasted 8k and a trackday before needing replacing. I'm pleased with the DS2000's, which have better initial bite from cold than the EBC, and similar stopping performance under pressure. Only downside is they do squeal a little when braking lightly at very low speeds (in traffic). The 'Clinic don't advise DS2500's for normal road use as they can be poor when not up to temperature (for instance, first thing on a morning at the end of the street, or after many motorway miles without touching brakes and to suddenly need them :eek: ). I also have stainless braided hoses and DOT5.1 fluid, which cured the brake fade I was getting on spirited runs ;) and on track.

Recently had the same dilemma. Had RedStuff Ceramic fitted to the front by an independant in the end (Tyres Northampton in my case) as the dealer quoted more. Very good pads, a lot less fade and they really pull the car up when you hit the brakes hard but are nice and progressive so don't feel harsh on initital pressure. Don't bother with the rears. If yours are anything like mine, the bias is barely enough to rub the disk at the back, let alone wear the pads out.
