Where is the optimal position people have found to locate / install these devices?

I put mine centraly on the dash, above the clock.

I use the window suction mount and put it in the centre of the window. You can just see it in this pic:

I guess it needs to be pretty high to clear the STi's Scoop, does it interfere with visibility very much?
