knock sensor??????

had my car diagnosed this morning coz engine check was coming on. they said its fault code 22 which is the knock sensor. i was told not to worry that infact it would be a faulty sensor rather then mechanical fault as car feels normal. How easy are they to change? coz the garage want to charge an arm and a leg. its a 97 turbo 2000.

Bizzare....................
Just had the same error on mine (MY98). Take a look at this link http://www.grahamgoode.com/subaru/pa...roup=96&nav=93

Dep on the car between £70 and £117. To me it's one bolt and unplug the old one and plug the new one in.

Don't know thought if it might be worth just unplugging the old one and plugging it back in. Maybe just a bad connection on the plug (cheap fix if it works). Think the ECU would need a reset to prove it though. But I could just be talking balls...... i'm going to try it, nothing to lose.
