Green Breather Filters

What bore size do Imprezas have?

Breather filter Inlet Bore Size 10mm Overall Length 40mm
Breather filter Inlet Bore Size 15mm Overall Length 40mm
Breather filter Inlet Bore Size 20mm Overall Length 100mm
Breather filter Inlet Bore Size 20mm Overall Length 50mm
Breather filter Inlet Bore Size 8mm Overall Length Lowers: 30mm

And will fitting one affect any emmisions tests?

16vmarc 04 June 2005 03:13 PM

Where do you want to fit it?

16vmarc 18 June 2005 02:10 PM

I thought there was only one place they could be fitted?

Peanuts 19 June 2005 10:51 AM

you could fit one wherever you so choose, but might suggest they wont be too clever at PS fluid or Coolant.
now, assuming that you are talking about crank/cam breathers then dont bother,
they look pretty on the outside, but get gunged up on the inside.

much better to vent the lines down to the road and tie them off at the ARB or similar.

16vmarc 03 July 2005 05:49 PM

Can anyone suggest a good place to fit one then?!!

Peanuts 03 July 2005 07:13 PM

on the crank or cam breather lines once you have blanked the recirc to inlets off.
if you have bought them already then go for it
if you havent then dont buy them, vent them to the arb with 1/2" B&Q hose or 12mm coolant line from Halfords etc

16vmarc 04 July 2005 12:21 PM

Already bought lol

Peanuts 04 July 2005 06:41 PM

do you have a catch can as well?
if not then you need 3 breather filters, if you do then 1 will suffice, you run the breather lines into the catch can and use the filter on a vent from that

this is *technically* illegal iirc, and you could possibly maybe perhaps fail your MOT for venting oil fumes direct to atmosphere.

Why ?

I believe it possibly may could make the exhaust emissions friendlier for said MOT station.

morpheous 04 July 2005 08:26 PM

Its not a requirement for the mot unless its leaking oil onto the road at a certain rate ( not sure of rate off the top of me head )
Was rewiring Alinson gearbox today at a council depot, you know one of those smelly Dennis bin wagons and if you dare to venture underneath youll see a six pot cummins with 2 breathers vented to air smoking like a good un,as theres also one from the gearbox,
Why would this be anything to do with emisions ?
