ADL or Borg & Beck Clutch ?
I need a new clutch for my standard-ish ( 250 bhp ) Legacy turbo . I was going to fit a genuine standard clutch but Subaru uk will not have any in stock until at least the 16th June .
Locally I can get a Borg & Beck or an ADL/Blueprint for around £125 . The motor factor recommends the ADL as they are OE in a lot of Jap cars . Which should I go for ? I can also get an Exedy on Ebay for £155 inc delivery . From what I've read the Exedy is the Subaru OE clutch . But I'd prefer a local supplier in case I've any problems . I can't do without the car & I don't want to be carless while waiting to sort out the wrong clutch kit . The local motor factor can have the kit the next day if he hasn't got it in stock . Cheers , Derek |
I haven't tried the ADL but have a B&B in my car which I fitted 40,000miles ago and no problems.. no judder.. and I didn;t skim the flywheel either.. it juddered on the original.. it has slipped a couple of times when I was running 1.6bar :)
Car is modified and the clutch seems to handle it all well at 1.45bar anyway. Oh and I have done about 10drag runs on it and a lot of towing.. it does however tend to judder after towing but soon stops.. Simon |
The ebay 'exedy' ones are the B&B clutches

Cheers guys .
Bobs - Thanks for the heads up on the Ebay Exedys . I asked the seller & he confirmed that the clutch was in a B&B box but is stamped 'Exedy' . I'll probably go for the ADL as the B&B seems to have mixed reports but the ADL/Blueprint stuff rates as good or better than OE stuff . Derek |
