Almost certainly. Styrenes, Acrylics, Urethanes and Vinyl-Chlorides all give off toxic fumes. Chlorine fumes will be devastating for any local wildlife that gets caught up in it, especially with the amount of fledglings in the nest at the moment :(

Pretty sad really.

you can have a picture of whats in the garage if you want;)

Luminous 28 May 2005 11:26 PM

Agree with the above. That smoke will be really nasty. You don't want to breathe any of that in if you can possibly avoid it. Even if that means packing up and going to stay with a mate, getting a bit late to do that now though:(

Is that a floating cat on the right?

:norty:

haha - think I'd bring it inside double quick! Unless you go by the name of ajm ;)

The_Gza 28 May 2005 11:57 PM

Something similar near me from a couple of years ago - doesn't half create smoke when plastics go up!

Pretty sad really.

Not to mention the dioxins.... cancer, immunosuppression, neurological diseases and sterility!

scooby-si 29 May 2005 01:03 PM

going to have a look see if i can see which factory it was as there are(where)2 on the estate

CooperS 29 May 2005 02:28 PM

where's that factory si?

Suresh 29 May 2005 03:06 PM

That's nasty. Can't imagine that smoke would be too fsafe to inhale. Probably not the world's biggest bonfire though.

This one was a tad bigger: May 2000, Enschede Holland. 180,000kgs of fireworks went off in the middle of a housing estate. A terribly stupid place to put a fireworks factory. 22 people died, 1,000 injured and 400 houses destroyed.
