Connecting to my XBOX from my computer

Hello all,
So the xbox is connected to my network, to allow XBL functionality. It is not chipped in any way either (maybe one day I'll get of my ass and sort that, which would probably void this subject of this thread anyway)

I'm curious to know if/how I can connect to the networked box of joy. Is it possible to Telnet or SSH onto the box, if so then what would the username and password be? the IP address, I guess, would be the one it's assigned, (10.0.1.3) and viewable in the dashboard network settings.

Why do I want to do this? well, I'm a curious sort and I want to have a poke around and see what I can see.

The main reason is really to get custom soundtracks onto the xbox, without having to use CD's. It's very slow to import tracks, and my thought was if I could jump on to the xbox I could copy the files across the network, which would be quicker than from a CD.

There is the question of the format of songs on the xbox (WMA? MP3? m4a?) as I might need to convert things. Plus the other reason for doing it this way is that I have all my music on my iPod, and thus don't have the CD's and I'd rather not have to burn a CD and then spend an ice age waiting for xbox to import them all.

So, any ideas?

You won't be able to Telnet or FTP to the Xbox without changing the bios or softmodding.

If modded, you can use Virtual Xbox CD Ripper (VXCR) to transfer various music files to your xbox without changing file formats. They are WMA when ripped on the Xbox BTW.

Hmm, thought as much. What is softmodding?

You're welcome. Could be a good option for you if you want to keep XBL, but occasionally FTP saves and audio to your XBox. Good luck.
