TSL Chargecooler kit? ANYONE ahd it?

I really want to get this kit.

Ive seen it on their site, and ive seen it being fitted to a car.

Anyone actually had it done? Whats the difference really like to drive?

Any one running it? Would be great to hear your views:

I could be wrong, but it looks like the Pace kit. If so, I would suggest finding out how well it workks, before buying it.

IIRC, Scooby Clinic tested one, may be worth asking them how it worked.

Mark.

Hi Guys

Not for me to advertise here, I can say that this kit has nothing to do with the pace one though.

Those guys who have already had this fitted please feel free to let everyone know what you think of it...

Hoppy 25 May 2005 01:30 PM

That looks neat :) Would be interested to hear what people have to say about it. Is there any reason why it cannot be made to fit a Classic?

Richard.

Hoppy

will happen for the 99my > cars later this year. There is more difficulty when thinking about I/C orientation (early models) etc...

Gav...

Power Junkie 25 May 2005 05:09 PM

I would be interested in the 99my version :) any more users out there?

Granby 25 May 2005 05:26 PM

Come on anyone who's had it fitted, let us know what you think of it

Tone Loc 25 May 2005 05:32 PM

£1525 plus fitting  . I hope that things performs well to justify that price tag....

Tony.

FASTER MIKE!! 25 May 2005 07:35 PM

could prob get a hybrid fmic fitted for less than that and still have enough for 10 pints of larger a packet of crisp and a taxi home:D:D:D

G_Sleigh_STi 25 May 2005 10:55 PM

The one thing that makes me want to get it is no pissing about cutting the front bumper for a front mounted intercooler jobbie.

Fitting appears to be quick and easy and looks pretty cool to.

The all important thing is those Dyno figures. I want to see one with out it and one with it. That would be spot on.

David_Wallis 25 May 2005 11:44 PM

mark @ lateral's kit doesnt require cutting of the bumper.

David

Andy.F 25 May 2005 11:49 PM

Neither does retaining a tmic ! Good enough for 500+ bhp

Andy

Just to clarify, I mean an air/air intercooler, not that overpriced shiney thing above !

David_Wallis 26 May 2005 12:09 AM

LMFAO..

yours required cutting of the bonnet / bending of the bulkhead instead :D

Andy.F 26 May 2005 12:15 AM

Not with anything up to a GT30 it wouldn't, just the windmill I have now :D

fmic from mark @ lateral doesnt need the bumper cutting and imho will work better than any charge cooler or tmic;)

:)

Tim W 26 May 2005 09:58 AM

PM/call Lateral (R19KET) and ask ;)

But it's less than this kit and includes a bigger rad and fans...

Andy, do we start calling you Windy Miller now than??? :p

G_Sleigh_STi 26 May 2005 10:56 AM

O.k whats the phone number for this other kit then your all talking about so i can get the details together :)

Tim W 26 May 2005 12:03 PM

Lateral Performance can be reached on: 0208 4205444

G_Sleigh_STi 26 May 2005 12:08 PM

O.k i rang him up but hes busy at the moment. I will get the details of that one later.

Hoppy 26 May 2005 01:10 PM

Is it still the case that the only FMIC that doesn't require cutting of the bumper or inner wings, and doesn't lose the air con, is the Pace kit? And that one doesn't work so well?

This charge cooler looks very nice, and if it works, and if it was half the price... :(

David_Wallis 26 May 2005 02:24 PM

looks are not related to performance :)

iam running a pace not got a problem with it(as yet)

G_Sleigh_STi 26 May 2005 07:35 PM

O.k Peeps.

I dont want this to be rude, but before posting can people make sure their comments are relevant to the topic.

I say this because i gave Mark @ Lateral Performance a ring and the kit that some of you have suggested are only currently available for the classic STi, and not my STi8. So at the moment we havnt found an alternative to this charge cooler kit.

HOWEVER After having a huge 45mins chat with Mark luckily i found him a very easy chap to talk to, a great contact to have gained and a bloody knowledgeable guy about scoobies! So something did come from that recommendation :) Hopefully he is going to be helping out a lot more in the future with ideas and engine modifications.

So lets open this question up in a new thread --> "How to get 400bhp from an STi8 engine"

Andy.F 26 May 2005 10:41 PM

The std Sti8 intercooler will cope with 400bhp no problem.

Andy

But only if it stays crimped together!

What do you mean?

Tim W 28 May 2005 12:03 AM

Put some some serious boost through an Sti 7 on intercooler and they have a problem holding together. The end cans are crimped onto the core over a gasket material and have been known to open up at boost pressures as low as 1.5 bar

Jolly Green Monster 28 May 2005 01:59 AM

Anyone tested a 92 Legacy charge cooler kit in comparison to fmic / big tmic??

Simon
