Engine rattle/tapping at 2,500rpm
 

The Scoob (1993 WRX) has just developed a rattle/tapping at around 2,500rpm. doesn't happen when idle and disappears when revs go higher.

Not being mechanically minded i plan on taking it to a garage but does anyone know what (to get them) to check for or what it might be? :(

piston slaps???

TBH mate i wouldn't know a piston slap from a rattling heat shield. What for/where should i be listening?

It does it when the engine is warm and cold (i.e. always)...
