Mobile phone type trackers

Has anyone had any experience or views of these new type of trackers which allow you to controll parts of your car and track it via your mobile ?

why not make one yourself, my father in law did for his caravan. all you need is a old mobile a pay as you go sim and a car charger.

wire it in somewhere discreet and permenant. then there are a whole multitude of websites that you can pay as you go to receive wherabouts information at £5 or so a pop.

all you need to do is rememebr to make a couple or real calls a year to keep the payg sim active.

I know what your saying and there are a few home made type efforts on Ebay too , but I'm not sure that the accuracy of those websites is that good to be able to pinpoint a stolen car if it were out in the country some where . The systems reviewed in Auto express in the above link allow you to immobilise your car (and other thngs) via your mobile as well .I just wonder if they are as good as they seem ?
