Coil Pack Problems??

I'm running a MY94 STi which under high boost whilst accelorating hard I experience pops and splutters, sometimes complete engine cuts. This does not happen whilst driving the car normally, which the car drives sweet as a nut, but seems to be an Intermitent problem. Would the problem be due to coil pack failure? The engine check light sometimes flickers, and can stay on for a second or two, would this happen If It were a coil pack problem?

These symptoms are normally associated with failing coilpacks but can also be caused by overboost/boost cut.
Do you have a boost gauge fitted - if so what boost do you see?
What mods has the car had fitted?

Cheers

It would also be a good idea to check what code is being registered as the CEL lamp is indicating a fault ;) If you look HERE the diagnostic procedure is shown ;)

Cheers

I have a manual boost control fitted, mods Include full decat, K&N Induction, Sard fuel Pump. Problem only started happening after I took the car to my local garage after having a complete coil pack failure In which the car was running on three cylinders, go It back and only noticed the problem I'm having now whilst driving the car uder full boost. Boost reading Is around 1.2 Bar.

Are you running a fuel cut defencer or a chip in the ECU? as 1.2bar(17.40psig) is above the limit of the standard map sensor which is 17.2psig (1.185bar) so it is likely that you are initiating the fuel cut/boost cut.

Cheers

I assume a chip In the ecu, It's a jap Import and has always run at this boost since I acquired the car 2 years ago. Never had any fuel or boost cut before the Initial coil pack failure.
