chrisT.O.T.B. 19 May 2005 11:25 PM

and we have set aside a parking area for all the scoobs so you can get cosy while spectating! all the scoobys who arent racing can park up on the large concrete pan area, follow the signs once inside.

Tiss 20 May 2005 11:53 PM

Do you mean the area to the right as if your looking up the strip?

chrisT.O.T.B. 21 May 2005 12:10 AM

no we are using the large concrete pad to the left of the drag strip area, where we run the handling course at totb events. you will be able to drive down there via the gravel path to the left as you enter the site, will be signposted. non scoobs will go onto runway to right.

Thinking of coming to the SSO tomorrow with out the my Sti just to watch.
Is it a ticket only affair, or turn-up on the gate and pay?

If so, what is the spectator entry cost please?

Graham.

911 22 May 2005 08:43 PM

Great day there, glad I made the effort to go there with the wife(!).
If I have a good gearbox next year will deff enter for real, mine you, 400 bhp is 'playing at it'
Christ, some of the Scooby's were fast (AndyF, Ireland and Paul (Pavlo?))

Harvey's wagon was great and so was David's when it got sorted.

Great day, took me way back to Santa Pod in the very early 70's :norty:

Graham :D

David_Wallis 23 May 2005 12:20 PM

Graham, cheers.. glad you liked it..

bit embarrasing not even being able to limp down the strip and having to be pushed... :o

the hose to the map sensor was squashed with a clamp.. so car was running lean as soon as there was any load applied.. :(

Finally fixed it, did a run and the clutch was playing up.. When I removed the engine, I noticed the clutch slave cylinder was leaking, so I just bolted on a spare.. when putting the car on the trailer it didnt feel right so I fixed the old one and shoved it in the boot, just incase. After the run where I had to double declutch for every gear change! So swapped it over and then went on to do an 11.6 iirc With a crap launch.. Just bogged down too much.

Next run the airfilter came off and the device that was retaining it decided to enter the turbo.. and bend every blade... woops..

Anyway, turbo is coming off Vband on the exhaust side and then Im back in business.

That made me feel tired just reading it!
Maybe keeping at 400x340 is a good thing...starts/runs/stops every time I turn the key.
Are there any classes at SSO?
Is everyone thrown in the same bag to fight it out?
I thought Road Legal tyres(list 1A) were mandatory, but some were running MSA List 1B tyres.
Where are rhe regs from so I can read up?

Graham.

vulnax999 23 May 2005 07:05 PM

Graham

Nice to meet you finally! Yesterday you were shying away from running SSO due to gearbox fears on launch .. changing your mind!??

The regs may be on TOTB web site but the runners get a set. Should be "road legal tyres, MOT, tax" etc. Not sure of the MSA 1B's etc, but I saw a few with slick tyres on running .. maybe changed after scrutineering ( shhh! )

Classes were scoobies and non scoobies

Then brackets - 10.5 - 11.5, 11.5 - 12.5, 12.5-13.5 etc so several chances to be best in "class" and a few awards as seen on Chris TOTB's thread in Events. Top speed, best 60 foot time, best 1/4 mile time.

David - Your 11.6 run looked ok, and quick, bit poppy from exhaust/ anti lag! You changing inlet wheel of the turbo or more of the turbo assay ?
Good luck if you are doing TOTB!

Neil

911 23 May 2005 07:22 PM

Neil: nice meeting you too!
Slowly I'm getting to put faces to names and nick-names, but I have a fragmented memory, so forgive me if I get you in the wtong slot at times(it's all that hard accelleration you know!)(or my age..)
Thanks for the info, all makes more sense now. Wish they wouls use 64 feet and not 60. To cover 64 feet in 2 seconds = 1G accelleration.

Graham.

gravelexpress 23 May 2005 08:24 PM

I ran with toyo r888 road legal slicks but checked with Chris before doing so - he said they were fine

stockcar 23 May 2005 08:49 PM

David_Wallis 23 May 2005 09:13 PM

I may look to just replace the wheel, not looked yet.
