Rebuild decisions

I'm thinking of possible options for rebuilding my MY97 WRX. I'm considering
either a standard rebuild or paying a little extra and getting an sti short motor, but I've got a few queries.

A. Is an sti short motor really going to be much better than a rebuild?

B. Are there any problems I'm likley to encounter with the STI short motor, i.e is it a straight swap?

C. What's an STI shortmotor likley to cost?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

A. YES

B. NO, YES

I didn't know that an STI 8 and 9 engine would fit into a classic.

Looks like I'll be giving Powerstation a call on monday. :D :D

hi, would one of these engine goe straight in to my 02 WRX. what would be the drive in drive out price for the swap. and do i get to keep my old engine???

Thanks

the short block will fit virtually all years of impreza.

Take note it's the "short motor" that gets swapped.
This means only the block and pistons.
Your existing heads (whatever year they are) gets bolted on the new block.
It doesn't suddenly become an sti engine under the hood.. arrghh americanism, I mean bonnet of your wrx.
why would you want to keep your old engine? (not that you couldn't of course) but the only reason to change would be because it let go...

Made it down to Powerstation on Saturday the only down side was the train journey home. There was a group of women on the train who talked for the entire duration . :(

Nah, just got fed up with piston slap and needed something stronger to support a few more mods. :)
