Hi i have a prodrive wr sport 98 have a few questions on it

Is it true the prodrive suspension is set up in such a way the back end slides out a lot easier? Had first track lesson and instructor said so.

Have been able to get the back end out quite wildly on some roundabouts at lowish speeds. Whats the best way to drive a car with prodrive suspension, settings etc? ( first time it happened thought their was a fault with the car :rolleyes: )

Any tips on how handling etc with this suspension set up, Dont want to learn the hard way

It will be set up to understeer less than a stock set up so basically if you are troubling its grip levels it should be very neutral so therefore 4 wheel drift.

Basically, once you are at the balance point so it is beginning to lose grip at eth front and back, wht you do wit hyour right foot will determine what happens.

If you back off, it will oversteer, if you accelerate, it will understeer, unless it is slippy & you light the tyres up - in which case oversteer again. (this is unlikely and only really happens when you do it on purpose)

Standard subarus are set up for people who cant drive - they are safe - the prodrive settings go some way to how the car should be and help unlock its potential. They are still mild settings though.

Basically, safe is understeer and most peoples reaction is to turn more & back off or brake - which is how you deal with understeer - unfortunately, many people tend to do the same thing when they oversteer - and that is teh wrong thing to do, therefore cars are generally set up to understeer.

If you are getting the back end out regularly and not on purpose I would suggest the following.

1) your back tyres are shagged
2) your back tyres have the wrong pressure in them
3) you are going into corners way to fast and off the throttle
4) you are braking or sticking the handbrake on in the middle of roundabouts
5) your back suspension is knackered

I would be more inclined to think option 3) - if you like to drive past the limits & you are not used to oversteer I would recommend a few airfield days to have a few spins & learn how the car works - you won't figure it out on the road - there is not enough space.
