Tyres for th wet

what are the best tyres (205/45/17) for wet weather. Have bought a P1 that seems to be a little bit more prone to sliding in the bends than my previous uk series mcrae. The P1 is running P-zeros at the mo.... need some ultimate wet weather grip monsters!!! (incidentally the car is mentally grip-tastic in the dry, far batter than the mcrae)

Trouble is with 205/45/17 you don't have a lot of choice when it comes to tyre make/models.

Michelin Pilot Sport is supposed to be even better than the Goodyears if you like paying the premium for them.

Agree with Goodyear F1s. Tried most popular Scooby tyres in last 94,000 miles. P-Zeros are horrible in the wet. Got me a 2nd set of F1s last week. Correct size is 215/40x17 on a Classic/P1. (Why did Bridgestone discontinue the wonderful SO2 PP :( )

Tried for Michelin Pilot Sport but they are now replaced by Pilot Sport PS2 and they are not available in that size.

May be just as well as they cost a lot more and I don't think they wear too well. Sticky as sh!t though :) Bridgestone RE070 are hot tyres, too, but again I'm not sure they do them in the size we need (worth checking - could be wrong).

Richard.

id suggest toyo proxes t1 R, just got a set put on and havent tried them in the wet yet but the t1s was great in the wet, the R's are brilliant so far in the dry and you get them in 205/45/17. worth a look if you want to keep the standard size

I rate the GS1D3s..good in the wet and the dry. I run 215x40x17s

The correct profile for your car and wheel size is 215/40/17. If you have a 45 profile, your speedo will be out by quite a bit.
