Does anybody have or know where I can get a new red front grill badge for my UK MY99?
Thanks |
Hi Martin,

I recall reading something on IWOC a year or so ago from someone in the US. You can apparently sand off (fine grade paper) the back of the badge leaving it transparent with the silver stars, than paint it whatever colour you want.

I think Alistair means this...

Cheers Guys
Looks like i'll get me sand paper out and make a trip to the modelling shop. Martin |
Sandpaper and paint... I wanted to do that, but found it couldn't be done to my badge (UK MY98). I guess the UK and US badges may be different.
Why? My badge is: a) curved on the back (so would be difficult to sand. b) more importantly, the black is solid plastic (not sandable paint!) - ColinU |
Martin,
I have a red 'I' badge, i.e not the stars one, currently on my car. This came on it when it arrived from Japan. I actually want a pink stars badge so if a manage to get one of those you could have my old one, if of course you want a 'I'. Let me know if your interested, Tone. |
I think the paintrick works on UK badges too.Mine is a dutch one and it worked fine, just use some thinner or nailremover to get the thin layer of black paint off. Do it carefully ,the silver sides and stars are also painted on.After this it will be transparant and you can give it any colour you like.
