induction heat shield ???????HELP?????????

i have just purchased a hks racing induction kit and would like any plans, pictures etc on how to make a heat shield, to prevent heat soak !!! i have a my00 uk turbo 2000 with A.B.S ???(dont know if this is a problem ???) and I know that fitting an induction kit is not the best thing to fit but going to give it a go anyway :Whatever_
any feedback would be greatly appreciated (THANK YOU):)

Hiya, An induction kit is a bad idea on the MY00 model and out of them the HKS is probably the worst culprit so I would strongly advise against. On my previous MY00 I was ignorant to this and put on a HKS one. It sounded fab but my MAF lasted 400 miles with it. I changed the sensor immediately so no problems but I kicked the induction kit into touch fairly quickly and replaced it with a green panel filter.

thanks to both of you for your replys !!!:) has anyone got any more info on this matter and is there any way i can get around the maf problem ? and why do such a big company like HKS produce a product that damagers your car ???

Well the underlying issue is more of a Subaru failure rather than the induction kit as my mate got the exact induction kit on his Celica Gt4 the same day and thats going back 2 yrs and his one is still fine. Having said all that, the HKS one is meant to do the most damage to the maf as a result of the filtration of air etc.
I was told by the sales member that the HKS was the best for my car so just goes to know what they know.
This is only my experience and it maybe a coincidence that it happened and maybe it was not related to the induction kit but I strongly assume that it was. I was annoyed to have to take it off at the time as it sounded lovely.
As far as I know the only way around the maf issue is to get a gems ecu but this is a bit drastic.

i had to use an induction kit as my front mount pipework would foul an airbox.

i bought a sheet of ali from b and q for a tenner, made a cardboard template and cut it out. i split some rubber piping down the middle and used it to hide the cut edge.

i also have a mini scoop on that side of the bonnet to get more cold air in.

The cone is definately cooler to touch even after idling for a while.

ps i had to replace my maf this week  . the last one has lasted 18 months tho'

See Floyd's car in Projects. He's spent a lot of time on this, lots of pictures, and still uses the stock airbox (well, most of it :D ).

If you must have an induction kit, the one to go for is a K&N and make sure it is bolted down to kill any vibration which upsets the MAF sensor as much as muck.

Richard.
