Its a bit raw, what with no interior apart from a rollcage and a relocated battery and the such, but it is a full on drift car so its understandable.
I also blew up the diff whilst driving it back from its previous owner, but the diff that was on there was horrible so its not a great loss, especially when TRD and their two way drift diffs are calling me :D
I am intending to put the interior back in and generally civilise it whilst retaining its (extensive) drift modifications.
Hopefully I should get the best of both worlds with a driftcar and daily driver in one.
Well happy, despite the fact I have just spent 3500 on a garage ornament that needed towing home
astraboy.

bigsigh 03 May 2005 09:57 AM

KKEEEWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLL :notworthy

Paulo P 03 May 2005 09:57 AM

You blew the diff up on the way home :eek2: How did you do that?

Looking forward to seeing this one :D

bigsinky 03 May 2005 10:01 AM

nnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not a twin cam :(

astraboy 03 May 2005 10:48 AM

Yeah, I werent even sideways, going down the A1m, lost drive, car filled with smoke and looked underneath to se oil pouring out the diff houseing :D. It was a blessing in disguise really, it was a plated diff that was so loud I needed earplugs so i was glad to be rid of it.
I am in the process of getting a new diff, maybe standard, maybe a nice TRD 2 way, depends what comes up.
One thing is for sure, I was having the time of my life till the diff blew :D
Sinky: Whats wrong with Twin cams?
astraboy.

It is I believe :) He called me the other day and offered it back to me but I bought a Legacy turbo about 5-6 weeks ago.

astraboy 03 May 2005 11:25 AM

Never driven one of these cars, but am I right in thinking these are pretty much like a RWD Honda CRX 16v? Tought, nibble and high reving? Do they have the MR2 MK1 engine, they are DOHC 16v, 120bhp?
Just keen to know;)

I wonder if any of the front wheel drive ones are still on the go. Theres an interesting few minutes in one of the old AE86s in the 'Drift Bible' DVD if thats your thing. Its a shame that later (AE101 onwards) Truenos/Levins were all front wheel drive only.

Imagine a totally reliable BDA engined MkI Escort RS1600 that doesn't p!ss oil everywhere and your pretty close to the mark:D:D:D:D

Well  AB closest I've got to owning one of these is in four generations of Gran Turismo:)

igratton 09 May 2005 07:38 AM

Well done dude, glad you have joined the ranks of the brotherhood.

Prepare yourself for driving karma (well - once you've fixed up the diff - a good chance to whack in a 2-way)

Clett 09 May 2005 11:13 AM

Mmmm.... 7,600 rpms of 4-AGE power. That's one of the best engines ever made! Miss the noise loads.... :(

mn_angrybeats 09 May 2005 04:08 PM

Cool was that the one off ebay ???

I sold mine a last year www.angrybeats.co.uk and want another one

330uk 09 May 2005 06:02 PM

Thats the dogs danglies mate. My favorite car of all time.

Miss mine so much. Sold it to one of the guys from Driftmoto. Im sure you will see it at the drift days. Its a silver/grey Jap import AE86 Levin.

Get a TRD 2 way. My old car had a TRD 2 way and I found it OK for everyday use and drifting. Never actually got to attend any drift days but performed perfectly well on local roundabouts.

dr_ming 10 May 2005 05:31 PM

I had one of those many moons ago - it was bleedin' marvelous. Never broke down, used sod all fuel (relatively speaking), and was truly hilarious RWD fun! Diffence was, when I sold my B reg one in 1993, I couldn't give it away!

Gutmann pug 11 May 2005 09:38 PM

Different mate for sure ..........Enjoy

Clett 12 May 2005 10:37 AM

The 4AGE engine in these is incredible. Tuneable up to 240 bhp, incredible for a 1.6 litre N/A!

Formula Atlantic in the States uses these and tunes them up to 240 bhp N/A (see below).

A Formula Atlantic 4AGE:

Check out Bill Sherwood's page on how to get more power out of a 4AGE, from 140 up to 240 bhp NA and then up to 400 bhp with forced induction. :)
