is it safe to repair a tyre or not?

fitted a new tyre only last week, this week there is a screw in it :(
its in the thickest part of the tread, is it safe to have the tyre repaired?

cheers
Taffy

In the thickest part, do you mean the middle? If so you might be lucky but if it's on or near the shoulder then bin it - most tyre fitters will not mend a puncture in this position anyway.

yes mate, its in the middle of the tyre

You should be OK then. I had a nail go right though the center of the tread section and my local tyre fitter repaired it with no problems. Tyre's gone on to cover another 6-8k and has been fine.

Well, up until yesterday when a kerbstone outside my house tore a chunk out the sidewall of the same tyre. Now that's not repairable. :(

better than £100 for a new tyre ;)
